Actually Iran does have an active wind and solar program: http://www.ystpp.com/back.htm
Interestignly, the country has also started being an exporter of wind power plants: http://www.mehrnews.ir/en/
NewsDetail.aspx?NewsID=194465
I would very much like the world to go in the direction of non-nuclear alternative energy sources and energy conservation. If, however,things don't go that way,and the world continues to measure progress in terms of GNP, and per capita income, I believe Iran would put be putting itself at a serious economic disavdantage by not keeping up.Ari Siletzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10330765093235294389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24752021.post-1145905341219430192006-04-24T12:02:00.000-07:002006-04-24T12:02:00.000-07:00here is another post. you mihgt even wan tot do a...here is another post. you mihgt even wan tot do a search on treehugger on nuclear vs alternative energies within the archives.

http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/02/green_nuclear_w.phpmimulushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16453055623021386050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24752021.post-1144404902069317492006-04-07T03:15:00.000-07:002006-04-07T03:15:00.000-07:00IAEA inspectors are having their regular inspectio...IAEA inspectors are having their regular inspections, so its not that Iranians dont allow inspections, they just won't stop uranium enrichment research.
As someone who lives in Iran, I can't find a rational explanation on my country's insistence on uranium enrichment.
Of course energy is crucial, and there's no doubt that carbon dioxide is having us baked, but I can assure you that global warming is the last thing on Iranian government's mind. I wonder why they did not invest those billions of dollars spent in this nuclear program somewhere else: Biotechnology and Nanotechnology are two good examples.
* * *
On the other hand, Its not a fair world we live in. United States is the only country in recorded history to have actually used nuclear weapons on two civilian populations. now we have to withstand a painful fight for our rights [of, say, having nuclear technology]. Then in these hard times, a fool like Ahmadinezhad-the president- threatens Israel.
In my opinion, Iran must spend years of confidence building before doing such things as uranium enrichment.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24752021.post-1144267148909921372006-04-05T12:59:00.000-07:002006-04-05T12:59:00.000-07:00All this sounds very good indead. It may have all your good intentions, but with the threats to Isreal, they are playing a dangerious game. Twenty years from now, no longer because the world will not wait, when Iran is devistated by the West, few will remember their good intentions to save the poor people of the world. rwilson1055@sbcglobal.netAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
